Houston Chronicle Endorses Chris Bell

"The Chronicle endorses Chris Bell in the special election to fill the District 17 state Senate seat."

For the snake-shaped district that coils from West University Place to Freeport, then along the coast to Orange, the Chronicle believes Democrat Chris Bell to be the candidate best equipped to represent its diverse constituency.
A Dallas native and a University of Texas graduate, Bell brings to the race a solid track record in public office. He served five years on Houston City Council where he chaired the council's ethics committee. It produced recommendations that tightened up the city's campaign finance rules and mandated financial disclosure measures for elected officials.
